Between his choral wails and strong backing instrumental, songs such as “Oh Red Star” beg to be performed live, which is the kind of music Miller excels in writing. On the other end of the spectrum, “Canned Peaches” has the exact same appeal for live performance, but for the opposite reason. It’s pushed back, but raw. The lyrics guide listeners into an intimate moment, and the composition supports that connection.

What’s most striking about Everywhere I Roam, a debut solo EP that Miller dropped at the beginning of March, is hearing Miller behind the microphone. His lovely baritone voice, which lands somewhere between Steven Page of Barenaked Ladies and Darius Rucker of Hootie & The Blowfish, gives the songs a nostalgic ’90s roots-rock vibe. Particularly striking is “Canned Peaches,” a sweeping ballad about cherishing all the fleeting, beautiful seasons of your life — lest you miss out on the metaphorical harvest of good times and great memories.

Everywhere I Roam is a talented musician pouring his heart out over warm Americana, ballad-laden country, and soulful vocals. It may be steeped in clichés at times, but this brings out sincerity and down to earth honesty of an artist that is brave enough to put his innermost thoughts and feelings to music and share them with the world. Sean Miller has made a good start here, and one that could pave the way for an interesting full-length.

“Miller’s vocals are one of the most perplexing and interesting components of Everywhere I Roam, a terrific and unique voice that borrows instincts from the slightest twinge of honky-tonk fare to form a rural, gentle palette. Paired with Lara Fullford’s vocals on “Phone Call Smiles,” the pair truly sound like two Michigan locals.” - MOXIPOP
